This problem has now become a persistent and consistent one. I cannnot send email through my gmail accounts via Mail. I am able to use the Google web interface with no problems. I have tried every 'fix' I could find, up to and including deleting the account and reestablishing it. Specifically, when I try to send an email from one of my three gmail accounts, the Activity monitor indicates that it gets stuck on 'connecting to server smtp.gmail.com.' Eventually, the ports time out and the email goes into an Outbox. I am able to receive email from these gmail accounts. To do this, open up Terminal and enter in the following command. And domain or your gmail account, and with your password. Once you have everything working, you can set Postfix to start on boot by adding a key to. You should now be able to send mail using Mac OS X and Postfix from a PHP install. Jan 16, 2010 - Update: This worked fine when piped into sendmail -t: From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: MIME Test Mime-Version: 1.0. Mail queue' [email protected] -- -f [email protected] mail' seems to predate this and doesn't send any, and so all MUAs fall back to. And I am able to send email from my.me account with no problem. My ISP is Verizon FIOS. I am running the current Mail 4.5. Is this an ISP issue? Any thoughts or suggestions out there? In that case, it seems to indicate there's a problem connecting to that server over your network connection. If you go to the Terminal and type: ping smtp.gmail.com.what happens? Issues with handbrake for mac pro. I know, and I did. The trouble is that I get spam that looks like Verizon mail stuff so I shelved it not wanting to tinker with something that was working. Your comment reminded me of that email notice and prompted a google search which hit pay dirt. The surprising thing is that everything worked up to about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Also, my MobileMe account, which also uses port 25 as one of its options, never failed to work, and still works as configured with its three default ports. I can't say I completely understand this, but I understand a bit more than I did before. Thanks for taking the time to help. I've just switched from PC to Mac hoping it would be easier. I have a similar issue too. I have two gmail accounts; one personal [email protected] and one business MYNAME @MYDOMAINNAME.com. I am not able to sync my contacts from a yahoo account together with the contacts in the domain name account and am also not able to create folders for the business (domain name) account in theMac Mail folder. The person I worked with at the store said I needed to set up the domain named account as an IMAP account. WHen I tried to follow the instructions of the person below, it gave me the following message: Servers marked with alert icons are in conflict and cannot be saved. Two servers cannot share the same address and authentication settings (even though one is a domain gmail and one generic gmail accounts). Resolve the conflicts and try again.suggestions?
